As can be the case these days, when so many connections are virtual, to have the opportunity to meet people face to face, with a glass of Champagne in hand, was a real treat – sadly I didn’t get the opportunity to meet everyone (where does the time go when the champagne starts flowing!) but it was awesome to meet plenty of people from across the dating board including the team behind Clocked, who picked up the best new dating app award, the Lovestruck team who won online dating brand of the year, Tara Mcdonnell founder of Southdowns Introductions Claire Hughes and Denise Mc Nally from Soiree Society who were awarded winner and highly commended, respectively, in the best newcomer category, Jordi Sinclair, who writes the amazing blog Thirty Something London and took home blogger of the year, the highly respected dating coach James Preece and perhaps the highlight of my evening, a chat in the loos with Mary Balfour, founder of Drawing Down the Moon who has been in the business of love for over 30 years!!and who was rightly recognised for her service to the dating industry.Other guests included the teams behind dating apps Bristlr and Inner Circle and global media group Venntro Everyone was in high spirits and as well they should have been – anyone who works within the dating industry knows there’s a lot more that goes into it than swiping right and attending singles events on a Saturday night! You can’t believe its over; but finally you got to sign the divorce papers and you are free once more to start life on a fresh page. Since you were so used to being attached to your married partner, you slowly and gradually loose hold of your own identity and personality. Getting in touch with that new part or side of you can be very challenging for most divorcees out there.
